Issue #5: Regulatory Board

A recommendation for regulatory board was made during the meetings of the Senate Subcommittee.  This was carefully designed to provide for some industry self regulation with appropriate oversight.   The recommendation includes a significant portion of the work group concerns and guidance.  Please comment on the recommendation so that it can be updated for the new legislative session.

This recommendation included a number of different size and types of Caregivers, Patients and  potential license fees.  Keep in mind that ALL REGULATORY BOARDS in Montana must be self funded. 1. A little bit of regulation is good. The bill that is currently being drafted by Senator Dave Lewis and Research Analyst Sue O'Connell (LC 100) is modeling the regulatory system after the one that was put into place in Colorado this summer.

There are so positive aspects to this system, however, it is important to note that MT is NOT CO. Furthermore, the consequences of CO's new regulatory system have not yet been felt, so no one knows what kind of impact this will really have on medical cannabis. From what I've seen, many caregivers are fleeing the tight restrictions of CO by coming to MT. Hmmmm.
